Notes: Francisco Xavier Cusa was the native governor of Toacuquita/Calabazas from 1748 to1761, both before and after the Pima uprising of 1751. He was governor of the rancherĂa of Toacuquita and continued to hold that office after the village was moved to the new site at Calabazas on November 1, 1756 (see baptism #2311 and marriages #2312-2341) He stood as witness for a wedding (event #459) at Tumacácori on February 6, 1761 (probably in the morning). He died, probably that afternoon, at Calabazas, and was buried at Guevavi (probably that evening). A busy day for Padre Gerstner. |
