Title: Gobernador de Suamca; Witness in the Pima unprising investigation of 1754 |
Place of Service: Suamca |
Burial Place: |
Translation: May come from the Spanish, "pavor," meaning "fear" or "dread." |
Notes: His surname is also spelled "Pavors." He was governor of Suamca during most of the 1740's and into the 50's. Following is a quote which he made on October 17, 1754, after the Pima uprising of 1751: "I and the people of this village were very content with Father Keller and had no quarrel with him. We are content with the Father now and we also were before the uprising. After he was sent away, we asked Father Visitor Felipe Segesser to return him to us. When the Father returned, the natives of this village went out to receive him. Some came from as far away as Cocóspera, ten leagues distant from here, and others from places a little beyond that."
