Filey Bay Wreck

In September 2002, the SRC partnered with the Filey Underwater Research Unit (FURU), the British Archeological Diving Unit (ADU) and the National Geographic Society to investigate a shipwreck site possibly related to the American Revolution off the coast of Filey, England.

A two-week project was conducted to document and generate images of the site, which is located in 90 ft. of water in the North Sea. Diving conditions on the site were complex, characterized by high currents and low visibility. An assessment of the wreck is in process and will eventually be jointly released with other partners in 2003.
