Headquarters of General George Washington; later, home of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Take the MBTA Red Line to Harvard Square. Exit and follow signs out of station for Church Street. At intersection of Church and Brattle Streets, turn right onto Brattle and walk for 7-10 minutes. Longfellow NHS is on right hand side of Brattle at #105.

Driving Directions: car
Although is it possible to reach this destination by car, it is strongly suggested that visitors use public transit, due to the difficulties of driving and parking in the Boston/Cambridge area.

From Downtown Boston:
1. Take Storrow Drive west (with the Charles River on your right).
2. From Storrow Drive, take the ramp signposted “Harvard Square/Cambridge.”
3. At the top of the ramp, turn right onto Harvard Street and cross the bridge over the river.
4. At the far side of the river, turn left onto Memorial Drive (MA-2).
5. Take the first right turn, onto Hawthorn Street.
6. Turn left onto Mt. Auburn Street.
7. Turn right onto Willard Street.
8. Turn right onto Brattle Street.
9. Longfellow NHS will be on the immediate left at 105 Brattle Street.

From the West:
1. From I-90 (Mass. Turnpike), take Exit #18 towards Cambridge.
2. Cross the bridge over the Charles River.
3. At the far end of the bridge, turn left onto Memorial Drive.
4. Follow Memorial Drive past the major intersection with John F. Kennedy Street.
5. Take the next right turn, onto Hawthorn Street.
6. Turn left onto Mt. Auburn Street.
7. Turn right onto Willard Street.
8. Turn right onto Brattle Street.
9. Longfellow NHS will be on the immediate left at 105 Brattle Street.

From the North or South:
1. From I-95/MA-128, Take Exit #29 onto MA-2 towards Boston/Cambridge.
2. At the end of the highway (the first traffic light), bear right onto Alewife Brook Parkway and drive approx. 0.25 miles.
3. At the rotary, take the second exit (Concord Avenue/Fresh Pond Parkway), and drive to the next rotary.
4. At the second rotary, take the first exit onto Fresh Pond Parkway.
5. Follow Fresh Pond Parkway for just over 1 mile, crossing Brattle Street.
6. Turn left onto Mt. Auburn Street.
7. Turn left onto Willard Street.
8. Turn right onto Brattle Street.
9. Longfellow NHS will be on the immediate left at 105 Brattle Street.

Parking in Cambridge is limited and expensive; no parking is available on-site.
