Don’t miss the “Evolution of Firearms” program every other Saturday, complete with blank firing demonstrations of black powder firearms made at the Springfield Armory. The first weekend in June every year, see “Three Centuries of Soldiers, Their Weapons and Their Music.” The Saturday night following July 4 every year, enjoy the “Big Band Show,” based on the historic concert by Benny Goodman in 1943.
The second-floor firearms storage tour is a real treat for those interested in historic firearms. It’s a one-hour tour of approximately 6,000 weapons not on exhibit, including one-of-a-kinds, prototypes, and experimental models; a flintlock musket unearthed and traced to the battle of Bunker Hill, and much more. Admission is $12.
