Description:
Preserves and interprets the history of the American Industrial Revolution in Lowell, Massachusetts. The park includes historic cotton textile mills, 5.6 miles of power canals, operating gatehouses and lock chambers, and mill worker housing.

MBTA commuter rail service is available on the Lowell line from Boston's North Station to Lowell's Gallagher Terminal. Lowell Regional Transit Authority shuttles run between Gallagher Terminal and downtown Lowell every half hour. Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Driving Directions: car
Lowell is located approximately 30 miles northwest of Boston.

From the North or the South:

From I-495, take Exit #35C to the Lowell Connector Road, and follow the directions below.

From US-3 southbound, take Exit #30A to the Lowell Connector Road, and follow the directions below.

From US-3 northbound, take Exit #30B to the Lowell Connector Road, and follow the directions below.

1. From the Lowell Connector Road, take Exit #5B onto Thorndike Road.
2. Pass under a rotary and then bear right onto Dutton Street.
3. At the first traffic light, turn right into the Visitor Center parking lot.

Free parking is available in the visitor parking lot next to Market Mills.

Begin your visit at the Park Visitor Center for an orientation and introduction to Lowell NHP and the city. Explore all the wonderful things there are to do in Lowell. Park brochures, maps, program schedules, museum hours, and more are all available in one location to help you plan your day. View “Lowell: The Industrial Revelation” a 22-minute audio-visual production to learn about Lowell’s rich textile history and more about what there is to see and do in Lowell. If you have children, don’t miss our family activities! Explore the Children’s Corner at the Park Visitor Center, ask a ranger about our Junior Ranger Program, and check out the Discovery Trail in the Boott Cotton Mills Museum.

Travel Tips:
Ride a turn-of-the-century trolley which provides transportation to the Visitor Center, Boott Cotton Mills Museum Mill Girl and Immigrant Exhibit, Mogan Cultural Center, and more. The trolley runs March through November weather permitting, 7 days per week.
