Collection SummaryThe James H. Cook Collection of Oglala Lakota and other Plains Indian culture, including objects having well-documented association with Red Cloud and his immediate and extended family; objects associated with the homespun Cook Museum of Natural History, including fossil, archeological, and geological specimens; objects associated with James Cook's life, character, and role as patriarch of the Agate Springs Ranch and author of the western classic, "50 Years on the Old Frontier;" the Harold J. Cook Paleontological Library; and the multi-generational Cook family papers and photographs documenting fossil discovery, friendship with Native Americans, Western historical research, and pioneer ranching along the Wyoming/Nebraska border.
