Going-to-the-Sun Road Plowing Information

Plowing Activity
On May 15, 2012, the West Lakes Road Crew pioneered (initial cut from a bulldozer on a drift) through Triple Arches to the Chute Above Arches, 2 miles west of Logan Pass. One of the bulldozers experienced mechanical problems. Temperatures were between 55 and 72 degrees.

On May 15, 2012, the Hudson Bay Road Crew plowed from Siyeh Bend to No Stump Point. The drifts were up to 25 feet deep.

Projected Plowing Activity
On May 16, 2012, the West Lakes Road Crew will pioneer through the Slopes to Point Below Rim Rock, approximately 1 mile west of Logan Pass. The crew will also do clean up work below the West Tunnel and repair the bulldozer.

On May 16, 2012, the Hudson Bay Road Crew will pioneer from No Stump Point to the East Tunnel, approximately 1 miles east of Logan Pass. The crew will also clear to the road surface in the No Stump area.

Quarter Circle Bridge Road: OPEN
North McDonald Road/Kelly Camp Road: OPEN to vehicles
Packers Roost Road: CLOSED to vehicles
Camas Road: OPEN to vehicles
Bowman Road: OPEN to vehicles
Kintla Road: OPEN to vehicles
Inside North Fork Road: OPEN to vehicles from Polebridge south to Logging Creek, then closed to vehicles between Logging Creek and Fish Creek

East
Going-to-the-Sun Road: Open 13.5 miles to the Jackson Glacier Overlook, then closed to vehicles beyond the Jackson Glacier Overlook
Many Glacier: OPEN to vehicles
Two Medicine: OPEN to vehicles
Chief Mountain: OPEN to vehicles to border. Border crossing is open 9am to 6pm beginning May 15, 2012.
Cut Bank: CLOSED to vehicles
