Ranger Brian Rutledge was honored by the Southern Arizona Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) this month for his outstanding efforts in DUI enforcement.
Rutledge was one of several local law enforcement officers receiving awards for being top DUI enforcement officers in 2009. The award was presented at a ceremony in Tucson on October 27th. Rutledge’s nominations read in part as follows:
“U.S. Park Ranger Brian J. Rutledge has served as the National Park Service representative on the Southern Arizona DUI Task Force since 1993 and has participated in task force and saturation patrols resulting in numerous DUI arrests. His criminal investigations and DUI arrests have produced a high rate of convictions in U.S. District Court. His diligence in seeking out impaired drivers and reducing DUI offenses within the Saguaro National Park is exemplary. Ranger Rutledge fosters an excellent professional relationship with both the U.S. Attorney and Pima County Attorney’s Office. Additionally, Ranger Rutledge continues to serve as a certified Drug Recognition Expert and assist other law enforcement agencies with drug influence evaluations."
