GL-0025-9 Protection Ranger (Lateral)

Rocky Mountain National Park is seeking qualified applicants interested in a non-competitive, lateral transfer to a full time, full performance GL-0025-9 protection park ranger position. 

A Type I law enforcement commission and EMT-B certification or higher are required.  The ranger in this position is assigned to the park’s East District (Estes Park). Park housing may be available, or the ranger will have the option to purchase a home locally, within a 15-20 minute response time to duty station.

This position is in the Fall River Subdistrict and includes frontcountry and backcountry emergency services duties requiring an individual with solid law enforcement skills.  Patrol and search and rescue activity occur in a high altitude alpine environment, all seasons of the year.  Resume must address in detail your experience in climbing and mountaineering (years involved, location and routes climbed, ski mountaineering/backcountry ski experience, etc.).  Mountain rescue and wilderness EMS are essential components of this position. Candidate will have responsibilities in backcountry/wilderness management with opportunities to work with interdivisional staff, volunteers, and outside agencies on a variety of topics and projects.

Employees working on the east side of the park have the added benefit of the Denver pay rate.  The gateway town of Estes Park and nearby Front Range communities offers a wide range of amenities and opportunities.
