EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK
Natural Resource Manager (Temporary Detail)

[Printer-friendly text version]

Resource managers at Everglades National Park are offering a 90-day detail for a seasoned natural resource manager or biologist to assist with building an exotic animal response program. The start date is January 1st.

The program will focus on developing capacity to conduct research and control activities for the Burmese python and other exotic animals that threaten the ecological integrity of Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, and the entire greater Everglades ecosystem.  The ideal candidate will have experience in the management of exotic species, development of interagency and cooperative agreements, and hiring.  This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in helping to build a program to support critical scientific research, natural resource management, and innovative partnerships.  Travel, per diem, and housing costs will be paid by Everglades National Park.  We will be considering employees within the National Park Service that are serving on permanent career or career-conditional appointments in GS-11 through GS-13 positions.  This detail will not result in a temporary promotion.

If interested, please send the following to David Hallac (David_Hallac@nps.gov ) and Skip Snow (Skip_Snow@nps.gov ) by November 15th:

  • a  one-page letter of interest,
  • a brief resume,
  • a letter/email that demonstrates approval by your supervisor to take a temporary detail
