Due to the huge number of applicants to the 2010 Albright-Wirth Grant (AWG) Program, the Capital Training Center is re-announcing its call for interested employees to serve as 2010 Albright-Wirth Grant panel peer reviewers/evaluators. Evaluation panel teams will assist in the review; rating and selection of 2010 Albright-Wirth grant applications/awards.
The Capital Training Center, in partnership with the National Park Foundation, administers the Albright-Wirth Grant Program, which is funded by the Albright-Wirth Endowment from funds donated by the Rockefeller family. Interest accrued from the endowment supports each grant awarded.
Each year the Albright-Wirth Grant Program provides financial awards to qualifying employees in all career fields, grade levels and geographic locations who have three cumulative years of NPS work experience. Grants are awarded to train and develop employees in areas of personal interest or fields of study that are typically unavailable due to budget realities. Grants are awarded based on appropriateness, creativity, and merit.
All AWG panel reviewers must commit to the dates, time frame and requirements which have been established below. AWGP peer panel reviewer eligibility requirements are as follows:
A minimum of five years of NPS experience
Panel reviewers cannot have an application request pending review for FY 2010 Albright-Wirth Grant Program
High standard of personal ethics
Have access to a NPS government computer
Have their supervisor’s approval
AWGP panel reviewers must be able t
Review up to 20 to 30 electronic AWG applications.
Provide one sentence explanation for each of the four questions that the rating is based upon, and justification statements to support the rating score for each element.
Time commitment per application – approximately between 10-15 minutes or less.
Available to begin the review – November 9th or sooner.
Completion date for the peer review – November 30th or sooner
Participate in one or two 30 minute conference calls, one prior to the review (date to be announced).
Provide process review feedback at the end of the evaluation process in order to provide comments for program improvement.
Besides funding the grant, the review process is the most important aspect of the Albright-Wirth Grant Program. It reinforces our support of personal and professional development and enlarges the possibilities by sharing the excitement of the applicants to build continual learning opportunities for themselves and the organization.
