Rear Admiral Patricia E. Wolfe, Supply Corps, United States Navy, was the featured speaker on Sunday, May 25 at the annual Memorial Day observance at Andersonville National Historic Site. Rear Admiral Wolfe is the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Supply and Ordnance as well as Commander of the Logistics Task Force Pacific and the Naval Logistics Forces Korea.
Memorial Day activities began with instrumental music at 1:30 pm. The program followed at 2:00 pm with a Color Guard from the Marine Corps Logistics Base (Albany, GA). Veterans were recognized by Edward L. DeMent, National Director, Southeast Region AXPOW and the featured speaker was introduced by Congressman Sanford Bishop, US House of Representatives, 2nd District. The traditional “laying of wreaths” featured various military and veteran organizations with wreath presenters escorted by members of the Macon County High Navy Junior ROTC. The program concluded with a Rifle Salute from Robins Air Force Base (Warner Robins, GA) and the playing of Taps by Park Ranger John Gray.
Scout groups from across the state, along with Junior ROTC units from Macon and Dooly Counties placed approximately 18,000 flags throughout Andersonville National Cemetery on Saturday morning, May 24. The flags remained throughout the Memorial Day weekend and were removed the following week by volunteers at the park.
About the speaker
Rear Admiral Wolfe was born and raised in northern New Jersey. She is a 1981 graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science in General Science and received her commission through the Villanova Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps Program. She received her Masters of Business Administration in 1987 from Brenau University in Gainesville, GA.
Rear Admiral Wolfe’s active-duty tours include Sales and Disbursing Officer in USS Piedmont (AD 17), Supply Officer, Navy’s Cover and Deception Group II and Officer in Charge of resale activities at the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, GA. She immediately affiliated with the Navy Reserve following her release from active duty in 1987.
Rear Adm. Wolfe’s command tours include: Commander, Navy Supply Support Battalion One headquartered in Phoenix, AZ. Commanding Officer Navy Cargo Handling Battalion Eleven in Jacksonville, FL, Commanding Officer Defense Contingency Support Disposal Remediation Team Jacksonville and OIC, Navy Cargo Handling Training Battalion Augmentation Unit Williamsburg, VA. Other reserve assignments include Transportation Officer at US Central Command J4M, Mobilization Readiness Officer at Navy Supply Systems Command 106, Transportation Officer, Logistics Task Force Atlantic, Director of Training at Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group and a member of the Navy Cargo Handling Force Transition Team. Wolfe has been recalled to active duty numerous times in support of Operations Desert Storm, Sea Signal , Restore Democracy, and twice for Operation Enduring Freedom where she first served at the U.S. Central Commands Strategic Movement Center and most recently as the Deputy Commander CTF 56 and Commander, Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group Forward at Camp Arifjan Kuwait.
She was promoted to Flag Rank in October 2007 and holds the positions of Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Supply and Ordnance, Commander Pacific Fleet, as well as Commander, Logistics Task Force Pacific and Commander, Naval Logistics Forces Korea.
