Junior Ranger Program
Children are encouraged to participate in the free Junior Ranger Program. Program objectives are:
- Help children learn about Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President
- Develop in the child an appreciation of our natural and cultural resources
- Encourage children to learn more about our heritage
Program booklet and patch are available free of charge at the Birthplace Unit Visitor Center.
Other Children Activities
Build Your Own Log Cabin Children of all ages can built their own log cabin using the miniature logs on the Lincoln Logs touch-table located in the Visitor Center
Tour the recreated pioneer life style cabin in the Visitor Center
See and learn about how early settlers build their homes and the tools they used to tame the land
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Other activities at the Park include guided tours, and the movie, Abraham Lincoln: The Kentucky Years, to engage the public's interest in the Park's cultural and natural history. For information about special programs or events see the Schedule Of Events section.
Special programs are available to groups, call for reservations.
Traveling Trunks
The "Traveling Trunk" program is available for use by schools and educational groups. Trunks contain curriculum guides, videos, games, toys, period clothing, and many other items representative of Lincoln's life. Trunks can be reserved by calling (270) 358-3137. Borrowers must pay mailing costs.
Web Ranger
The National Park Service has instituted a web-based program called Web Ranger where children can have fun and earn awards in the Junior Ranger programs.
