The Bicentennial Celebration of the life of our sixteen President. A variety of activities will take place at the Birthplace Unit and in the afternoon there will be a dedication of the restored log cabin at the Boyhood Home at Knob Creek.

Park Day April 4 Volunteers activities to benefit the park. Sponsored by the Civil War Preservation Trust

An annual Presidential proclaimed week for the celebration and recognition of your National Parks. "Name That Park" contest will be featured.

Independence Day July 4
Costumed interpreters from Frazier International History Museum will present two special programs today: "Mr. Lincoln Looks Back" at 11 a.m. and "Day in a Soldier's Life: the American Civil War" at 2 p.m. In additional there will be a living history program with demonstrations about military life during the Civil War. Demonstrations will start at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
AUGUST:
Founders Day August 25
The National Park Service was created on this date in 1916. Founders Day is an opportunity for parks to show our pride connect with our visitors and reflect on the importance of the National Park Service mission.
September:
Labor Day September 7
Costumed interpreters from Frazier International History Museum will present "Mr. Lincoln Looks Back" at 11 a.m. and a new program "Mary Chestnut: life for a women from the south during the American Civil War" at 2 p.m.
Walk Through Lincoln's Life September 9 and 10
An educational curriculum based event for school children and adults. Expanded to two days this year to accommodate more school groups. Public is invited.
U. S. Constitution Week September 17
Marks the anniversary of the U. S. Constitution being written, signed and approved in 1787.
Public Lands Day (tba)
Is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands that Americans enjoy.
October:
Period Music Sunday, October 25
Anne Milligan will be performing Lincoln period music, including the Civil War period in the Visitor Center auditorium. Performances will be 15 minute vignettes at a quarter past the hour and a quarter till the hour (1:15, 1:45, 2:15, 2:45). Public is invited and the programs are free.
November:
First Person Interpretation Sunday, November 1
Gordon Thomas will be performing first person interpretation and music of African American experiences during the Lincoln era in Kentucky. Mr. Thomas will portray Monk Estill, the first free black man in Kentucky.
Performances will take place in the Visitor Center auditorium and will be 15 minute vignettes at a quarter past the hour and a quarter till the hour (1:15, 1:45, 2:15, 2:45). Public is invited and the programs are free.
Veterans Day November 11
Special interpretive display honoring the men and women of our armed forces.
